Where can I have my Timex watch band replaced?

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

The model is Ironman WR100m. I bought it at Kohl’s three years ago. The band is broken yesterday. I brought it to Kohl’s. They have Timex bands look like mine. The saleperson said it might fit but I have to replace it by myself since I no longer have sale receipt from Kohl’s. Some friend told me I should try Wal Mart. So my second question is if Wal-Mart has the same strict polity that they only service the watches they sold. Also I have tried mall jewelry/watch repair stores. Both said Timex bands are different so I can’t have it done there. So my third question is if I have to replace the band by myself, are all Timex bands of the same size really the same? I mean, I can’t find "Timex Ironman Water Resist 100m" band, can I use "Timex Triathlon 30 Laps" instead since both are 16mm in size? From outside, two bands look the same except the color. Mine is silver while "Triathlon 30 Laps" is golden.

Thanks for replying any question of the three.
I have been to all places for my watch band early thisafternoon.

Stores no longer sell watch bands: K-Mart, Sears and Target.

Stores selling low end watch bands only: Wal-Mart. (and phasing out this business).

I have no choice but go back to Kohl’s. I explained to another manager that I bought my Timex there and can’t no longer find my receipt since it was 3 years ago. She approved replacement. So I am a happy customers again. Side note: I paid $28 for the watch (price on the tag was $40. I bought on 30% off sale. The band costs $13, almost half of my purchasing price. I saw similar watch is currently for sale with $49 price tag, so I did not buy a new one instead.

Lesson learned: buy next watch at Kohl’s because they are the only chained store keeping the watch repair unit and they are smart enough not to service watches bought at other stores!

Go back to Kohls, ask for a manager. If you’re buying the new band there, and it’s a watch brand they clearly sell, they have the skills and the tools to do it, it literally takes 30 seconds to do, why wouldn’t they just replace it for you?
