The Timex Ironman Watch was introduced to the market in 1986. Since that time it has been on a remarkable journey. It is now the world’s largest selling sports watch. The Timex Ironman Watch has travelled to the moon. It is worn on all continents. President Clinton donated the Timex Ironman Watch he wore at his inauguration to the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History.

Because the Timex Ironman Watch could take a lot of punishment its early models were worn extensively by the military and law enforcement officers. It was also very popular amongst the American youth as a ladies/youth version was also introduced in 1986.

The Timex Ironman Watch has since then become a symbol of an athlete’s fitness and ability and is perhaps one of the first products sold targeted to the sports market. Between 500,000 and 1,000,000 of these watches are sold every year – they must be doing something right!

The Timex Ironman Watch that is produced today has come ahead in leaps and bounds technologically. “Indiglo” technology was introduced in 1992. This took the watch to a whole new level. Other technological advances have been data link and heart rate monitors. There is even a Timex Ironman Watch that uses GPS technology.

To keep abreast of what endurance athletes want in a sports watch, Timex is continually asking them at Triathlon events what innovations and training tools they need. The Timex Ironman Watch records all the times and splits they need in their training schedule and with the data link technology now available all this information can be uploaded to a computer and stored for future reference.

Of course, it is not only athletes that use the Timex Ironman Watch. They are popular with everyone. They have many styles, are hard wearing and reasonably priced. They have introduced a slimmer, sleek version that is very popular. They have been rated waterproof to 100 meters – so there’s no worries about wearing a Timex Ironman Watch in the shower or when swimming. There is even a Timex Ironman Watch that will interface with an iPod!

The timex ironman watch has been seen at celebrity events. They are very popular amongst actors, actresses and all types of performers – some of the routines they have to go through also need a watch that can stand up to any punishment!

The Timex Ironman Watch has certainly proven itself over the years. It has moved with the times. It has listened to the marketplace and come up with the goods. It is no wonder that it is the most popular sports watch today. Athletes, especially, endurance athletes, need a watch that is their constant training companion, which will not fail them and give them the information about their times – essential for preparation for an ironman event

Timex might be able to send you a replacement band for cost + shipping.The band is often excluded in their warranty coverage.Most places that sell timex offer replacement watchbands for sale as well.You are probably going to have to buy a new watch if you want the band and face to match.I had a timex ironman with stainless steel band and a screw fell out and the band broke in two.I ended up buying a new one with a rubber clasp band.It’s also lighter and takes more abuse.Have you tried making your own band out of rubber strapping material?Guaranteed to be unique.
